A boat is :
- equipped and arranged to float even when full of water ;
- designed to allow the user to detach easily from the boat in the event of overturning and to protect the user from the risks of sinking or becoming trapped as a result of impact.
In addition, an inflatable boat :
- must not accommodate more than thirteen people ;
- is designed to withstand foreseeable impacts;
- has a sufficient number of compartments to float horizontally if one of them is destroyed, supporting the weight of the crew and the loads on board;
- is equipped with taut external lifelines and a mooring rope when it is intended to carry more than three people.
For sea kayaks, the paddler is connected to the boat by an elasticated attachment system.
The white-water float is unsinkable.
