French Sports CodeIn force

Updated 7 Nov 2023

Candidates for the specific part of the brevet d'Etat d'éducateur sportif du premier degré must pass a general test, an educational test and a technical test, with the exception of candidates who hold a licence de sciences et techniques des activités physiques et sportives (STAPS) mention "entraînement sportif", who are exempt from the general test and the educational test.
For options with multiple sports specialities, a choice from one or more specialities may be provided for.
A general test (coefficient 4) comprising:
- a written exam on the technical aspects of the sport concerned (marked out of 20; duration: three hours; coefficient 2);
- an oral exam on the socio-economic and legal environment of the sport or sports concerned by the sports option mentioned in article D. 212-70, (marked out of 20; preparation: thirty minutes maximum; presentation: thirty minutes maximum; coefficient 2).
An educational test (coefficient 4) comprising:
- the presentation and running of one or more sessions relating to the sports option concerned (coefficient 3). Candidates have a maximum of one hour's preparation time, which includes a written presentation of the session. They are judged on their choice of teaching aids, teaching methods and teaching attitudes;
- an interview with the panel for the teaching test (coefficient 1). The interview conducted by the jury must enable the candidate to justify his/her teaching approach and to carry out a critical analysis of the session(s) carried out.
A technical test (coefficient 4) comprising:
- a test involving the performance of one or more physical exercises relating to the chosen sports option (marked out of 20; coefficient 3).
For certain specialities, special provisions set out in the decrees taken in application of article D. 212-72 may require that the test be taken in accordance with the rules for the acquisition of a ranking or grade relating to a level of practice attested by the delegated sports federation concerned by the sports option mentioned in article D. 212-70.
However, the candidate may be exempted from the technical test if he or she provides a certificate of performance achieved under the conditions laid down by the order issued in application of article D. 212-72. In this case, the candidate is awarded a mark in accordance with the provisions defined by the decree establishing the programme for the specific part of the option concerned;
- an oral on the technical regulations of each delegated sports federation concerned by the sports option mentioned in article D. 212-70 (marked out of 20; preparation: thirty minutes maximum; presentation: thirty minutes maximum; coefficient 1).

Common Questions

Working with a corporate lawyer in France — Q&A

Any time a strategic decision changes how the company is owned, governed or contractually bound — incorporation, fundraising, M&A, restructuring, shareholder agreements, or major commercial contracts. Earlier engagement always costs less than later remediation.

A notary (notaire) is a public officer who authenticates specific deeds (mainly real-estate transfers and certain family-law acts). A corporate lawyer (avocat) advises on strategy, negotiates and drafts company documents, and represents you in disputes. The two roles complement rather than overlap.

Yes — most of our clients are foreign suppliers, investors or holding entities. We bridge the gap between French law and your home jurisdiction's expectations and deliver everything bilingually.

The SAS (Société par Actions Simplifiée) is the default choice for most international structures: flexible governance, single shareholder allowed, no minimum capital, and works cleanly with foreign holding entities. We assess SARL, SA, SCI on the merits when the situation calls for it.

Yes — communications with a French avocat are protected by the secret professionnel (Article 66-5 of the Law of 31 December 1971). This protection is broader than the common-law attorney-client privilege and applies to written and oral exchanges.

We work on fixed fees for clearly scoped engagements (incorporation, contract drafting, audits) and on monthly retainers for ongoing advisory. Hourly billing is the exception, not the default. You always know the cost before work starts.

Typical timeline is 2–3 weeks from KYC kick-off to RCS registration, assuming standard documentation. Holding-company structures, foreign-shareholder identification or in-kind contributions can extend this — we flag the gating items at the first meeting.

Absolutely. We routinely coordinate with your in-house counsel, expert-comptable or notaire — pragmatic collaboration is the norm, not the exception. We send them everything they need to do their part without duplicating work.
